Jump rope

The Kangaroo Kids are performing Sat., Dec. 12 at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Community Center as part of their Kangaroo Kids Holiday Hop. The shows are free but the Kangaroo Kids would like everyone to bring a canned or non-perishable food donation for the Howard County Food Bank. Refreshments will be served at the performances.

Ice hockey

The Centennial Eagles and Howard Lions ice hockey alumni will face off in a game that continues their friendly rivalry. The game will be played Dec. 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the Columbia Ice Rink. Roster spots are limited. Alumni wishing to play should contact their respective coordinator: Centennial alumni: frankd@smart.net; Howard alumni: lionshckey@aol.com. There is a $10 player fee to help offset the cost of the ice. A small admission will also be charged.

Softball

Jodi Ceglia will lead a pitching clinic at Centennial High School for five Sundays starting Feb. 14. The clinic meets indoors in the back gym and is offered in two levels -- beginners (limited or no pitching skill) and intermediate (basic to above average skill). The clinic times are 4-4:45 p.m. (beginners); 4:45-5:30 p.m. (intermediates). Each pitcher needs to bring a catcher. Cost: $150 per pitcher. Sign up by e-mailing jmeitl@yahoo.com.

Baseball

The regular meeting of Talkin' Baseball will be held Sat., Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, 7110 Minstrel Way, Columbia. David Vincent will discuss his book, "Home Runs Most Wanted."

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jason Berken will lead the Berken Baseball Camp Dec. 19-20 at Meadowbrook Athletic Complex in Ellicott City. Tri-County Umpires Association is holding classes for anyone interested in umpiring youth baseball in Howard, Baltimore, Carroll and surrounding counties. Classes begin in early February. Call 410-916-5655 evenings. All games are paid in cash.

The USFTL Bulldog Rocky Assardo Memorial NIT XV tournament will be held Dec. 19 and 20 at Catonsville High School. The tournament offers 9-man, 8-man and 5-man divisions. Cost: $275 per team (plus $45 per game for officials). Entry is due Dec. 13. Call 440-974-8735.

Baltimore will host the 2010 JCC Maccabi Experience Aug. 8-13. This is the first ever joining of the JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest.
