Golf
The First Tee of Howard County is accepting applications for two new programs for young golfers. The TARGET program is open to ages 5 and 6 and Costs $50. PLAY-er (ages 7-8) is the next step in the First Tee process and costs $100. Both programs begin June 15 and run for 10 weeks.
Applications are still being accepted for the regular PAR, BIRDIE, EAGLE and ACE level programs, which run through October. Registration forms may be picked up at Fairway Hills Golf Club, in Columbia, or they are available by e-mailing info@TheFirstTeeHowardCounty.org.
Basketball
Dr. Mike Caprarola's All-Star Basketball Summer Camp will be held at Atholton High School. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18 and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program consists of six one-week sessions running from June 23 through Aug. 14. Registration is being accepted for the Elkridge Hurricanes football and cheerleading program. Flag football (ages 5-6 costs $85), tackle football (ages 7-14, is $160) and cheerleading (ages 5-14 is $125). Practice begins in August; the season runs through mid November. Swimming
The Atholton Swim Club is offering Red Cross Learn-to-Swim instruction throughout the summer. The 30-minute sessions are held weekday mornings between 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. run for two weeks (nine classes total). Session start dates are June 9, June 23, July 7, July 21 and Aug. 4. The county recreation department is accepting registration for the Hershey Track and Field meet, Sun., June 1, 1-5 p.m. at Long Reach High School. (June 7 is the rain date). This is a recreational meet for boys and girls ages 9-14. Winners advance to the state meet. Cost: $5 per event (three event maximum). Check-in and on-site registration is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Table tennis
