Golf

The Howard County NAACP is hosting its seventh annual golf event July 21 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course, in Elkridge. The event begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds from the event are used to support annual scholarships to high school students, ACT-SO competitions, the Back-to-School program, health initiatives and other NAACP programs.

Table tennis/chess

The Howard County/Carroll County Table Tennis Club will host a day camp for table tennis and chess in the Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg July 14-18. Campers may choose table tennis only, chess only or a mix of the two. The full-day camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break. Fees based on week, full-day, or half-day options. Cheerleading

The Howard County Elite All-Stars are having tryouts July 19-21, 6-8 p.m., at Hollifield Station Elementary School. Girls ages 11 and younger are eligible for competitive team. Registration/tryout fee is $25. Practice starts Aug. 25. Call 410-313-4715.

Sports camps

Soccer

SAC/HC U-12 boys Premier and Classic I teams (players born between Aug. 1, 1996 and July 31, 1997) are looking for an additional goalkeeper and field player. The Draganov School of Soccer will hold two camps this summer at Howard Community College. The first camp is for ages 8 and older, including goalkeepers, and will be held July 28-Aug. 1. Full day and half day sessions are available. The second is a specialized High School Prep camp and runs Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This session is for U-14 and above.
